"DOULA is a Greek word whose definition has come to mean a woman who helps other women. The word has further evolved to mean a woman experienced in childbirth who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and after childbirth."

The Doula Book

Maggie and HypnoBirthing are two of the best things that I have experienced in my life! My husband Mark and I were first time parents searching for a doula. I met Maggie for an interview and from that moment on, I felt comfortable and relaxed, just by her presence. Her experience with all types of birth showed and I knew that she would be the perfect doula for my husband, our first child and me. Maggie let us

know that whatever we decided to do, she would support us. We decided to have a natural birth in the hospital, but we wanted to stay home as long as possible. Maggie's guidance and HypnoBirthing worked so well that I was peacefully at home for seven hours of my labor and arrived at the hospital 10 centimeters dilated. Maggie supported us with the grace of her delicate presence. She is very skillful at giving guidance and support without being intrusive. Both of us felt so comfortable with Maggie. We were not sure if we would find a doula to share the very intimate and private experience of the birth of our first child, but we did. Maggie was absolutely perfect and we feel very blessed that she was there for us throughout this experience; sharing the birth of our son with us. Mark and I do not know what we would have done without her.

Maggie's pre-natal assistance was crucial to our successful birth. Her knowledge of birth and the HypnoBirthing method, plus her incredible ability to teach, provided us with the information and skills needed to prepare for birth, post-partum and parenting. When we chose Maggie, we knew we would have a great doula, but I was not aware of the benefits she would bring to my life. I have never been good at relaxing and, for this reason, had doubts that HypnoBirthing would work. We owe our ability to relax, put aside birthing fears and enjoy welcoming our son into the world, to Maggie. It is because of her and her HypnoBirthing instruction that we had a wonderful natural birth. The benefits we received included relaxation, dealing with fears, preparedness for post-partum and parenting, knowledge of the birth process and choices, bringing my husband and me closer as a couple and as new parents, and more. The activities Maggie walked us through had an enormous impact and were very helpful. The exercises, music, reading, positive affirmations and Maggie's gentle voice were a true gift to our family. Maggie's commitment and dedication to providing excellent doula services show in her work. I absolutely love HypnoBirthing and Maggie! If we are blessed with a second child, we hope Maggie will be our doula again!

"The doula you bring with you may be the only person whose sole responsibility is to make you more comfortable and to help you labor as effectively as possible. The calming influence the doula can have on expectant fathers is often as significant as her effect on laboring woman."
